Bree's Review:
This game stars Nathan Drake on his quest to uncover the treasure of El Dorado, accompanied by journalist Elena Fisher and his mentor Victor Sullivan. Spanning 22 chapters, it blends platforming, combat, and exploration. The platforming sections were challenging for me, often leading to confusion and repeated deaths due to unclear directions. The combat system on the PlayStation 3 felt outdated; the grenade throwing and shooting controls use L1 and R1 instead of the more intuitive L2 and R2, and Drake’s inability to take cover added to the difficulty. I played on easy mode, remembering the struggles I had on normal during my younger years. The first two chapters brought back a wave of nostalgia, reminding me of my initial struggles and excitement. While Sully, despite being a beloved character, often felt useless in combat, the character dynamics added depth to the gameplay. The soundtrack, particularly "Nate’s Theme" by Greg Edmonson, along with other music tracks, significantly enhanced the game’s atmosphere and overall experience.
