Bree's Review:

This kart racing game builds on the Mario Kart series by featuring both existing tracks and unlocking tracks that were previously accessible only through DLC. Unlike Mario Kart 8, this version includes dedicated battle tracks and introduces new game modes such as Renegade Roundup—a cops and robbers chase, Shine Thief where players must hold onto a crown for a set duration, and Bob-omb Blast which involves scoring points by hitting opponents with Bob-ombs. Players can set their own times in offline mode, while online matches are capped at 3 minutes. The game now boasts a total of 96 tracks, with additional courses introduced between March 2022 and November 2023 across six waves of booster packs, each adding 2 cups and 8 tracks. It’s refreshing to see that owning the booster pack isn't necessary for playing specific tracks online. Although the quality of new track visuals varies, with some like Toad Circuit and Shroom Ridge feeling basic, and others like Squeaky Clean Sprint and Vancouver Velocity matching the high standards of Mario Kart 8. Additionally, the game offers the option to customize item choices in matches, allowing for unique scenarios like races with only blue shells or red shells. This feature adds a fun twist, enabling players to tailor their gaming experience more directly. Overall, this expansion significantly enhances Mario Kart 8, giving it a more complete and thematic feel. It's also impressive to see the game continue to evolve and improve 4-5 years after its initial release, maintaining its enjoyment and relevance.
