Bree's Review:
This game is both a platformer and a game creation system similar to its predecessor, Super Mario Maker 2. Players can craft their own levels using assets from past Mario games, now including elements from Super Mario 3D World. Levels can be saved and shared for others to play. The game features a single-player mode where you tackle Nintendo-designed levels to complete objectives and earn rewards. It keeps track of your progress, showing levels you've played, liked, and first clears. There's a "World Maker" feature allowing you to organize your levels into worlds, reminiscent of classic Super Mario Bros, complete with Toad's house for bonus activities. The game also offers online multiplayer modes, including cooperative play with 1-3 other players across difficulty levels, and a competitive mode where you race against others. A special "Ninji Speedrun" mode lets you race against ghosts for the fastest time. While I enjoyed the story mode and the creative assets for level building, the multiplayer can sometimes lag, which can be frustrating. Some popular levels feel repetitive, relying on simple mechanics like ground pounds. Despite minimal updates, the game feels complete with its world system, new power-ups, and speedrun challenges. All updates have been free, which is a nice touch. Overall, it's a fantastic game for those who enjoy designing and playing platforming levels.
