Bree's Review:
Playing the base version of "The Sims" has proven frustrating, mainly due to the lack of autonomy in the Sims themselves, who often ignore basic needs to engage in less important activities. The constant loading screens, even for simple actions like fishing in the backyard, interrupt the flow of gameplay, making the experience feel disjointed. Many players, including myself, find that mods are necessary to enhance the otherwise lackluster gameplay, as the base game alone leaves us questioning what to do next or how to create engaging storylines. Recent updates like the shopping cart icon have been met with criticism, viewed as yet another pushy sales tactic by Electronic Arts (EA), which seems more focused on rolling out expensive DLCs that feel unpolished and rushed rather than genuinely enhancing the game experience. While I enjoy the customization options available in the Create a Sim and appreciate some aspects of the build mode, the inability to change colors freely and frequent issues with Origin further detract from the enjoyment. Ultimately, this game feels more like a revenue generator for EA than a lovingly crafted life simulator, leading me to seek more fulfilling activities outside of the game.
